When it comes to stemming the tide of HIV /AIDS in Black communities throughout the United States and Diaspora, nobody is on the way to save our people. We are the ones who are responsible for saving one another.
This theme reflects the work necessary for all those who believe in a healthy future for Black People.
NBHAAD's History
In 1999, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness was conceptualized by five organizations funded by the CDC. It started with three focal points: Get Educated, Get Tested, and Get Involved.
In 2006, Healthy Black Communities, Inc. became the lead organization and added Get Treated as the fourth component. In 2011, the CDC abandoned the initiative and original website.
