- The Manatee County Health Department, in conjunction with Minority AIDS/HIV Social Services (MASS), Inc, Manatee County Rural Health Services, and the Tabernaculo de la Uncion, will be hosting the 2012 Black Awareness Day Health Fair. We will be providing rapid HIV testing with results in 15 minutes, as well as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and pregnancy testing. There will also be other healthcare representatives providing services such as blood glucose and cholesterol checks, as well as blood pressure screenings. Other community partners will be setting up information booths to provide medical and non-medical information and resources that can be accessed and utilized by members of the community.
This free, outdoor event will have live entertainment, including a live DJ, dancers and singers from the community, face painting, crafts, clowns and a bounce house; all making this event very much family-friendly. Gift cards will be given to those who are tested, and raffles and give-a-ways will take place at the end of the event. Food, drinks, and other snacks will be provided, and as mentioned, everything will be free of charge! |
