Partnerships & Affiliations

In an effort to expand the reach of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day 2012, we are reaching out to local, regional and national organizations in Black communities to partner with and serve as affiliates. A large part for forging these relationships are to promote NBHAAD 2012, highlight organizations around the country doing work in Black communities and build relationships with those who serve the Beloved Community.

We have two distinct opportunities: Partner and Affiliate. Below we have provided an outline for how each relationship is distinguished as well as how to solidify the relationship.

Become an NBHAAD Partner:

In order to formalize a relationship between NBHAAD and be listed as a partner, we ask that you:

  • have a physical office location where HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral Services are provided;
  • be willing to participate in NBHAAD as well as other HIV/AIDS Awareness Day activities
    (i.e. National HIV Testing Day, World AIDS Day, etc.);
  • sign an NBHAAD Partnership Agreement;
  • serve on the NBHAAD National or Regional Leadership Council to assist in advising on programs, events and conferences planned; and
  • host a banner on your organization, company or health department's website promoting NBHAAD.

Become an NBHAAD Affiliate:

In order to formalize a relationship between NBHAAD and be listed as an affiliate, we ask that you:

  • be willing to participate in NBHAAD and other HIV/AIDS Awareness Day activities
    (i.e. National HIV Testing Day, World AIDS Day, etc.);
  • sign an NBHAAD/HBC Affiliate Agreement;
  • host a banner on your organization, company or health department's website promoting NBHAAD; and
  • become a Point Agency/Organization for NBHAAD via linkage to HBC.

These affiliates are where many community based organizations and HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services are available. NBHAAD has the capacity to bring communities back to life - where people and their communities grow, change, and strengthen. With programs and resources for all levels of the Beloved community, the affiliates provide community members with guidance so they may know where to get tested for HIV, acquire information around HIV/AIDS treatment and care, as well as obtain additional support information.

We ask all of our affiliates to assist in cultivating a symbolic relationship with local community based organizations and health departments, encouraging them to volunteer at National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day programs and events to advocate for positive change in their communities.
