NBHAAD - Northeast

When it comes to African Americans and HIV/AIDS, no region of the country is immune to experiencing a crisis, for one more HIV infection is one more too many. As each region of the country begins to plan activities and/or events for February 7, 2008, we want to make sure that we capture and share who is planning what, where, when and how.

As organizations, health departments, colleges/universities, and the like register their event and/or activity, we will be uploading that information under their state to the left. If you do not see a state listed, it is because we have not received any registrations from them.

Based on data and statistics acquired from www.statehealthfacts.org and our definition of the Northeastern Region of the United States (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhoda Island and Vermont), there is a total of 5,942,358 African Americans/Blacks living in the Northeast. When it comes to HIV/AIDS and African Americans/Blacks; we represent 125,563 of the Cumulative AIDS Cases; 6,090 New AIDS Cases; and 54,683 Persons Living with AIDS.

We know there many organizations funded to do HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment and look forward to their leadership as we approach National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day 2008.
