"No war on the face of the Earth is more destructive than the AIDS pandemic. I was a soldier.
But I know of no enemy in war more insidious or vicious than AIDS.
Will history record a fateful moment in our time, on our watch, when action came too late?"
-- US Secretary of State Colin Powell,
June 25, 2001 Address to the UN General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS
When it comes to meeting people where they are, community based organizations have the market cornered on this. Since the beginning of this initiative, we have relied on community based organizations, faith based organizations, fraternities, sororities, colleges, universities and the like to pick up the baton and participate. You all did it and done it well!!!
Much of this was done without any funding and/or support from the NBHAAD Strategic Leadership Council. Mainly because we do not have the support and/or sponsorship to distribute mini-grants to those on the ground that are planning events or activities. Each year, more and more are joining the fight to mobilize African Americans/Blacks to get educated, get tested, get involved and get treated. As the quote above states, will history record a fateful moment in our time, on our watch, when action came too late? I don't think this can or will ever be said for organizations around the country and world to step to the plate.
Below we will provide links via state-by-state pages of organizations, faith based organizations, sororities, fraternities, schools, colleges, etc. that provide HIV/AIDS prevention, care and/or treatment services. Once we begin to upload them, please feel free to contact them at your convenience.
Should you be interested in listing your organization, church, group, college, etc., please email us: HERE.
