NBHAAD Reflections

We have come twelve years on the road of mobilizing Black folks for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. We have lost a lot of Black brothers, sisters, and transgender individuals in that time span as well. As we spend some time reflecting on the work we have done, we want to pause and recognize all of the many health fairs, church services, candlelight vigils, conferences, meetings, summits and the like that have shaped the reputation and image of this initiative. We don't want to leave out those countries in Africa, India, Asia and China who have participated in times past. Where would we be without the many voices since our inception?

So, we are in the process of collecting photos, video, articles, and the like that tell the course of our work over the years. Many of you have pieces of the whole and we want you to share it with us so we can share it with the world. Did you know that some communities even created NBHAAD Foundations, organizations, task forces? Some heath departments have put it in their annual budget to support this initiative and others have it locked on their calendar.

We are proud of our growth and development; the challenges made us stronger and many of you, our communities members demanded we do better and be better. We hope that each year this initiative evolves that you see our growth and development. Even this year, we have upgraded our YouTube channel, opened a Flickr account to upload photos we have taken down through the years, and send out a Tweet regularly. Tell us what more you want and we will do our best to make it happen.

Until then, email us your photos, articles, links to online content that represents the work you do or contact us if you want to drop some stuff in the mail.
