Become an NBHAAD Leader

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day as a national HIV testing and treatment community mobilization initiative is in its reformation stage, where we are looking for individuals to become members of the National Planning Council, Regional Advisory Board Members, and Ambassadors. Each role has specific responsibilities and we ask those who submit an email of interest for one of these three, to really consider time and availability. In 2012, we are taking the initiative from a one-day focused project to identifying strategies for how to be relevant year round and provide vital HIV/AIDS pertinent to Blacks, domestically and internationally.

Below you will find the descriptions for each role we are looking for individuals to serve in, should you be interested, please email us at your convenience and we will contact you to discuss the way forward.

We are seeking individuals who have significant experience in regionally and/or nationally mobilizing community members. From time to time, these individuals will be asked to serve as a voice for the initiative. We will need you to submit via email a headshot, brief bio, and any relevant key information that we can provide website visitors about you that showcases your level of experience and expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS education, prevention, testing, leadership development, and treatment.

Regional Advisory Board

Individuals interested in serving on a Regional Advisory Board will be asked to live and have operations in the region of interest, be directly or indirectly connected with HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, education, or treatment in your professional and/or volunteer role. These individuals would participate in regional conference calls to discuss HIV/AIDS issues relevant to Blacks in that region and provide guidance and direction to the National Planning Council as well as Healthy Black Communities, Inc. on those things needing to be considered and addressed regionally. We will need an email of interest expressing your interest in serving on a Regional Advisory Board, background in HIV/AIDS prevention, education, testing, leadership, and/or treatment.

Ambassadors

We are always in need of individuals to serve as the voice and face for the initiative where our staff or national representatives are unable to be present. These individuals will be asked to go and speak on behalf of Healthy Black Communities, Inc. and National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, assist in mobilizing key community stakeholders in their particular area of influence, and push/pull HIV/AIDS information of importance to and for Blacks. These can be students, faith based leaders, bloggers, media/press entities, etc. The significance of Ambassadors is to make sure the issue of HIV/AIDS in Black communities is not forgotten or pushed to the side. For this role, all we need is an email stating your interest and sphere of influence and how you feel you can help to keep the initiative relevant and constantly in the minds of those you have influence with.
